PRESS RELEASE
The 28th of June, at 18:30, Galleria Mazzoli opens the exhibition “Voglio Proprio Vedere… Musica da guardare arte da ascoltare” on the occasion of the concert Modena Park.
The show features the works of seven artists: Devendra Banhart, Carlo Benvenuto, Mario Dellavedova, Jason Matthew Lee, Gian Marco Montesano, Mimmo Paladino and Donato Piccolo.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with texts by Achille Bonito Oliva, Valentino Catricalà and Davide Rondoni.
The artists read, in an original way, Vasco’s figure as a cultural and sociological phenomenon and, as written by Achille Bonito Oliva in the catalogue: 'They celebrate him through their iconography,
casting the vitality, erotism and sense of life that Vasco made close to us…A proof of a bound between sound and silence, to create a connection between different languages and to state the
anthropological value of celebration.'
Catricalà in his essay states that Vasco is an example of rewriting of mithology in contemporary age. Furthermore Rondoni writes that: 'Vasco is a rock voice, sometimes almost a blues one of
a merciful mother for us, belonging to a generation often without family, homeless, lost in dark suburban streets.'
This book and exhibition are a gift that Emilio Mazzoli wanted to make to Vasco and to himself.
