Vincenzo Cabiati was born in Vado Ligure (SV). He trained in the studio of his father Achille, a painter who from the 1940s adhered to realism and at the end of the 1940s
In his eighties he moved from Liguria to Milan.
In his works he draws on a varied iconographic repertoire made up of art, cinema and architecture, from which he takes significant fragments, abstracting them from the original context and attributing to them a
renewed poetic and affective value. He uses a great variety of languages: painting, watercolor, drawing, sculpture, photography, installation, video. In recent years, polychrome ceramics represent the medium
privileged position of the artist. His obsession with sequence and framing make cinema an inexhaustible source of images for his works.
He has exhibited at Villa delle Rose in Bologna, the Ceramics Museum of Savona, MASI and the Cantonale d'Arte Museum of Lugano, Assab One, Studio Marconi, Galleria Massimo De Carlo in Milan,

On Saturday 14 October 2023 at 6.00 pm the Mazzoli Gallery in Modena is pleased to present the exhibitions Filosofo di cipria. Rosa dietro by Vincenzo Cabiati.
Vincenzo Cabiati's exhibition takes its title from the two series of ceramic works exhibited in the gallery. Filosofo di Cipria is composed of around thirty porcelain works, created in the period 2020-2022, in which an iconography emerges that derives and is inspired by art and cinema: by Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin, François Boucher, Eugène Delacroix and Giambattista Tiepolo to Peter Fischli and David Weiss, to Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola and Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick. The title of the series refers to the dust created during the production of porcelain, transformed in the author's mind into a cloud of perfumed powder that envelops eighteenth-century figures. The Pink behind series includes fourteen glazed terracotta plates, made on original seventeenth-century shapes and glazed on the back in pink. This characteristic, from which the series takes its name, infuses the works with an aura of dreaminess and lightness. Within the baroque frame of the plates, scenes and subjects come to life inspired by the themes and art of Baroque and Romanticism: from Saint George and the Dragon by Eugène Delacroix to Rubens and Antoon van Dyck. The scenes depicted are not quotes but evocations, 'appropriations' through which Cabiati gives life to personal interpretations and narratives in sculptural form.
Irene Biolchini specifies in the text of the catalog that "The two cycles presented [...] are the fusion of his houses and his stories, without however ever degenerating into biographism. Just as inspiration does not degenerate into quotation, in the same way life cannot be reduced to the biographical or the event."
